The walk will take place on Sunday 11 September 2022, setting off from the rotunda tower at Lakeside Village at 11am.

Participants are encouraged to wear magical fancy dress and should register at the rotunda at Lakeside Village by 10:30am on the day.

David Booker, Fundraiser and Association visitor for the South Yorkshire Association branch, said: “This September marks the seventh year we’ve embarked on a fundraising walk from Lakeside Village.

“The annual event aims to raise awareness of motor neurone disease, raising funds to help improve the quality of life for people who have MND within the South Yorkshire region, as well as to help purchase essential equipment.”

David, who lives in, Doncaster become involved with the charity after it helped him and his wife Margaret. Sadly, Margaret lost the fight against MND 12 years ago.

David added: “With all the medical training I received through the NHS and the support I received from the Association in looking after Margaret, I feel that it’s good to pass that knowledge on to people I visit with MND and I hope it helps them.”

The walk will follow an easy, flat route around the Lakeside area, and is suitable for all age groups, wheelchairs and is dog-friendly.

Di Mellis, centre manager at Lakeside Village Outlet Shopping, said: “It’s fantastic to see local charities and community groups such as the MND Association using our facilities for such important causes, such as the Spellbound Walk, and we wish the group the best of luck in their fundraising efforts.”
