Lakeside Village to celebrate 25th birthday by reliving iconic summer

Monday 9th August 2021

It was the long, uplifting summer when football came home, the Spice Girls were top of the charts and baggy jeans were all the rage.
From hosting the European Championship to the rise of Britpop, 1996 saw the “Cool Britannia” revolution in full swing.
It was also the year The Yorkshire Outlet was launched, on August 15, 1996, before we rebranded as Lakeside Village in 2003.
To celebrate our 25th birthday this weekend, Lakeside Village will be travelling back in time to pay tribute to an iconic year.
As part of our Love Summer activities, this weekend, August 14 and 15, our staff teams and customers will be treated to a retro roller disco and Spice Girls tribute act.
Some of the more than 40 retail outlet stores that call Lakeside Village home have been with us since the beginning, including Clarks Outlet.
Di Rodgers, centre manager at Lakeside Village, said: “We’re really excited to celebrate our 25th birthday by hosting a weekend full of 90s fun for our wonderful staff teams and customers.
“A roller disco will be set up for customers to show off their best 90s moves and a fabulous Spice Girls tribute act will perform favourite hits from the world’s most famous girl band.
“In the past 25 years we’ve seen plenty of changes in fashion and household trends, but Lakeside Village has remained one of South Yorkshire’s favourite shopping destinations.
“We’re very proud of our place in the Doncaster community and can’t wait to celebrate this special birthday in style with our loyal staff and customers.”
So, come along to Lakeside Village for what is set to be a fantastic weekend of celebration and fun!
