Many children have been away from school for five months making this year’s back to school checklists even longer. We are here to try and help make sure that your children are fully kitted out for the much-anticipated return to school in September.
First the fun stuff. We all remember the excitement of getting the new pencil case and stationery each year for school. Some schools will have sent a list out to parents of specific items the children will need, like a scientific calculator or a protractor, but generally you can’t go wrong with:
- Pencil case
- Pencils
- Pens (a variety of colours)
- Ruler
- Rubber
The Works has lots of fantastic stationery to choose from. They also have great notebooks, perfect for if your child is heading to secondary school and needs to remember a new timetable – a top tip is to get them to write it out in a notebook as they are pretty much guaranteed to lose the sheet of paper with it on in the first week!
In the bag
Secondary school parents particularly will also need to find the right school bag. This is like a military operation and you will not believe the number of things they need to take with them each day – all the stationery, plus PE kits, Chromebooks or schoolbooks – the bag ends up looking almost as big as the child carrying it.
Uniform up
Next up is school uniform. Each school will have its own logo and colour for tops, but the general items include:
- Skirts
- Trousers
- Shirts
- Blouses
- Shoes
- Coat (waterproof)
As we are home to the only Clarks shoe store in Doncaster, it is quite simply the place to go to get measured by an expert instore team – who’ve already sold hundreds of pairs of school shoes this summer – don’t leave this too late. You can book a fitting by calling the store directly.
Get sporty – and hydrated!
Also, don’t forget PE. You’ll need:
- T-shirts
- Shorts
- Jogging bottoms
- Trainers
Again, the school will specify the colour and any requirements they have, for trainers it might be that they need to be one block colour.
Also, the one we all normally forget is a kids’ active bottle to make sure they are keeping hydrated at school. Add it to the list!
Back to school – for less
There is so much to think of. Bring your checklist and head to our GAP Outlet, Sports Direct, Mountain Warehouse, Tog 24, Next or Trespass to get kitted out with the various items.
We have so much to offer in terms of back to school essentials and what’s even better is that with our Outlet prices it’s not going to cost parents a fortune.
Back to school time can be really expensive, especially with a list like this! Sorting out new school uniform, shoes and all of the new stationery can be extremely costly for parents and we are happy to be able to help with super discounts across the centre.
Going Back to School feels like even more of an event this year after so much time away.
We’ve put lots of safety measures in place across the centre to ensure that you feel safe shopping with us as you get your children ready for September.
