Lakeside Village thanks customers for charity generosity

Loyal customers and staff of Lakeside Village are being thanked for their fundraising efforts after helping to raise over £3,800 for a vital cancer charity.
The Doncaster retail outlet has proudly been supporting Team Verrico as its Charity of the Year for 2018-19 and, with the help of shoppers and centre employees, has so far raised £3,848 to help support those with cancer and their families.
Fundraising events have included a charity car wash at the centre, taking part in a dragon boat race and through donation tub collections held throughout the year including at Gents Day at Doncaster Races and Lakeside Village Santa’s Grotto over the Christmas period.
Lyndsey Parry, deputy centre manager at Lakeside Village, said: “We are just so proud of our wonderful customers and staff members who have helped us raise nearly £4,000 so far for such a worthy cause. Team Verrico has been a fantastic charity to work with and they do really important work supporting people with cancer and their families.
“We still have some more events coming up so we hope to finish off our fundraising year for Team Verrico in style and increase the total amount as much as we can.”
Team Verrico aims to promote and protect the physical and mental health of cancer sufferers and their families and all money pledged to individual missions goes directly to that fund.
The charity provides funding for research aiming to find new or improved treatments and counselling and practical help for victims and their families, like childcare and transport. It is also committed to educating the general public by supporting the publication of research and through producing informative films and events to raise awareness of the disease.
The total amount collected by Lakeside Village is set to increased further by forthcoming events including a Family Fun Day at Doncaster Racecourse and a pop up Escape Rooms which has been held at the centre over Easter.
In addition, shoppers have been encouraged to help the charity by donating items to create pamper packs for people affected by cancer. Donations, including bubble baths, flannels, make up wipes, soaps, creams and lotions, can be dropped off in the donation box located in the indoor area at Lakeside Village which will then be passed onto Team Verrico to give to those who need them.
