ENGLAND’S STRONGEST MAN SET TO SHOW HIS STRENGTH THIS FATHER’S DAY

Paul Smith – England’s Strongest Man 2016/17 – along with Junior Strongman Ashton “the bear” Reid and regional Strong Men Mark Steele and Dave Thornton, will go head-to-head in a series of weight-lifting events throughout the day.

At 11am, the strong men team will meet and greet shoppers, before starting the series of events at 11.30am with a car lift – weighing a staggering 300kg.
Events including reps of 110kg ‘monster logs’, a 260kg tyre flip contest and atlas stones, will then take place every 45 minutes, and shoppers will have the chance to put their strength to the test, too, with a tug of war against the strong men.
Speaking ahead of the event, John Magee, our centre manager at Lakeside Village, said: “We are so excited to have this unique display of awe-inspiring strength taking place here this Father’s Day for visitors.
“Whatever age you are, you’re sure to be amazed by the weights the strong men can handle as they go head-to-head. It’s a fantastic way to treat the dads out there.”
Mark Anglesea, the two times Guinness World Record holder, who holds the world record for the most amounts of lifts of a car in one hour, will be refereeing the events throughout the day.
Photo opportunities and question and answer sessions will take place between each event.
John added: “There will be many chances throughout the day for shoppers to take photos with the strong men as well as quiz them about their diets and training schedules.
“It’s a really unique chance for people to get up close to these renowned weight lifters and meet England’s Strongest Man in the flesh.”
The Strongest Man Event takes place on Sunday 18 June from 11am until 3pm.
