Lakeside Village Turns 20!

33 sf lakeside 20 birthday

Lakeside Village celebrated two decades as one of the region’s leading outlet shopping locations in style this August.
The centre first opened as The Yorkshire Outlet on 15 August 1996, before rebranding as Lakeside Village in 2003 and is home to more than 45 retail outlet stores, including Next Outlet, M&S Outlet, Gap Outlet and Thornton’s Chocolate Café.

Cheryl Sadler, centre manager at Lakeside Village, said: “Our birthday celebrations have been amazing. We’ve celebrated with our customers, our stores and held a birthday lunch for key partners including Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster Sheffield Airport and representatives from the charities we support.

“We’ve built up an incredibly loyal customer base here in Doncaster, with people travelling from right across South Yorkshire to shop with us and it has been great to celebrate with people over the weekend and on August 15, which was our official birthday.”

Some retailers, including the M&S Outlet, Clarks Outlet and Black & Decker, have all been at the site since the beginning.
John Hamilton, regional manager for Black and Decker’s has been at the site since it opened and said: “Families, couples, people on their own, they all come down to Lakeside Village – not just to shop, but to enjoy the events that take place here at the centre, or to meet up for a coffee with friends or colleagues.

“I’m proud to have worked here for the two decades the site has been open as a shopping centre. The future’s bright for Lakeside Village and I’m looking forward to continuing to be a part of it.”

Birthday activities included free circus workshops, where shoppers learned how to juggle, hula hoop and unicycle, a birthday treasure hunt, free jelly and ice-cream, balloon modelling, face painting and free giveaways.
